The Nicest Celebrities in Hollywood

90

By Jason Oleinik

The large majority of not just Hollywood’s but also the world’s celebrities are known for their nice and friendly demeanor in public. What many don’t realize however, is that this is not always the case without the cameras. In fact, many famous celebrities are known to have some very sour personalities.

From Mel Gibson’s racist rants, to Russell Crowe’s numerous violent outbursts, Hollywood is in fact full of some very rude, condescending and ill-mannered celebrities. At the same time however, it is home to some of the nicest people out there – celebrities that in many cases not only have an easy-going and kind personality, but have also helped people out in different ways.

#5 - Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks’ nice guy attitude precedes him. If there’s one actor that both viewers and film industry workers can say is the real deal, it’s Tom. Although many people attribute this to the nice persona that he usually plays in his films, in reality, it is carried out into his real life as well. In fact, from Hanks is usually seen as the EASIEST celebrity to work with. As typical of most modest, down-to-earth celebrities, Hanks also donates to many different charities.

Patient with fans, engaging and entertaining in interviews, and all around classy, Tom Hanks is a throwback to the classic actors of Hollywood like Paul Newman.

Hugh Jackman and family. Seriously, this guy just looks like an everyday family man.

#4 - Hugh Jackman

Hugh is not only one of the nicest Hollywood celebrities out there, but also the model family man. Hugh married his wife of 15 years in 1996, on the set of one of his first acting roles. Although his wife has had two miscarriages, they decided to adopt two children instead. Unlike many Hollywood men who constantly change romantic partners, Hugh has been married to the same woman (who is also 13 years his senior), and enjoys spending time with his adopted children.

On and off camera, Hugh is regarded as one of the most pleasant and engaging actors to interview, get autographs from, and work with.

#3 - Oprah Winfrey

Oprah doesn’t really need an introduction. Dubbed as one of the greatest philanthropists of our generation, Oprah has visibly made the world a better place through her TV talk show, multiple charity programs and other philanthropic initiatives.

Although she had a very tough childhood marked by sexual molestation, early pregnancy, and poverty, instead of being angry at the world, Oprah worked hard to create a way to help other people. Her TV show, “Oprah” has not only helped countless people with their problems, but also given away free prizes as big as new homes. Her charity initiatives have, most notably, helped people in poor places of the world like Africa.

Whereas most talk show hosts seek to make money and fame, Oprah’s leading goal has been to help people. As a final act of good faith, Oprah has revealed that a part of her will was to donate 1 billion dollars to charity.

#2 - Johnny Depp

Coming in at number two, Johnny Depp is all class. This guy has done so many good deeds that you would think he’s a priest. There are too many to count, but we will take a look at Johnny’s best.

Notable Nice Guy Stories:

Classy Johnny’s most recent work was surprising a fan with a visit. The fan, a 9-year-old girl, wrote a letter addressed to Johnny’s famous character, Captain Jack Sparrow. In the letter, the girl asked Deep to help her and her classmates “stage a mutiny” against their teachers. Depp actually read the letter, and showed up at the girl’s school, in the complete garb of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Johnny Depp Surprises Fan in Classroom

In the late 1990’s, Depp was working on the film “Sleepy Hollow”. In one of the scenes, he was to ride a one-eye horse, which was to be killed and sent to a glue factory after filming. Upon finding out about this, Deep adopted the horse.

During filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, Depp reportedly spent $ 62,000 to buy jackets for all the crew members, because it was raining.

In 2008, Depp recorded a voice message for a 17-year-old British girl who had been in a coma. Her parents asked him to tape the message because he was the girl’s favorite actor, and they hoped playing the message would wake her up.

Perhaps Depp’s most famous good deed was his outspoken defense of three convicted men, who were believed to have committed gruesome murders, but with no physical evidence. The men were convicted for death row, yet Deep continually stood behind them by appearing on a number of talk shows.

To top it all off, he’s one of the most humble and kind celebrities in the world, and has donated money to numerous different causes. Not only does he continually thank his fans for their appreciation, but constantly seeks to make any of his appearances on camera a funny and entertaining affair. Johnny Depp is such a nice guy that even his celebrity friends identify him as a genuinely good person.

#1 - Keanu Reeves

Keanu has been through some pretty rough stuff in his life. His dad left his mother when he was 3, leading to constant moving and new stepfathers. His girlfriend delivered a stillborn child in 1999, and then she herself died in a car accident in 2001. To top it all off, his sister has battled cancer for close to a decade, with Keanu constantly supporting her not just financially, but also in person. You’d think that after that turn of events, he would be a pretty bitter guy, but no. Keanu Reeves has and continues to donate to charities, and even spent $ 50 million to buy motorcycles for a large part of the crew working on the Matrix trilogy.

The stories of his good nature would fill a long list, but here are some highlights, straight from the mouth of the people who witnessed them.

Notable Nice Guy Stories:

Keanu bought free lunch for all the stage hands and grunt workers during the last weeks of filming of the 1996 film “Chain Reaction”. He was also noted for being extremely friendly and nice to everyone on the set of this, and many other films.

Keanu gave $ 20,000 to a man working on building movie sets. The man, who worked on the Matrix set, had financial troubles with his family, of which Keanu heard and decided to help.

Keanu helped a woman whose car broke down on an LA highway. Keanu tried to start her car up, and then called for the vehicle to be towed. He then proceeded to drive the woman all the way to her home, 50 miles off from where he himself was heading. To finish it off, he gave the woman his phone number for any additional help.

I think that sums Keanu up pretty well. A genuinely good soul who hasn’t allowed his fame and rough life to stop him from being nice and friendly. We can only hope that more Hollywood celebrities will follow in his, and so many others' footsteps, to not only aim for fame, but also for becoming a better human being.

Several months ago I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Hugh Jackman on WWE Monday Night Raw. Needless to say he has been my very favorite celebrity to work with! He is a genuine, down to earth guy. Just an absolute sweetheart. Having worked for WWE for quite some time, I have met a lot of celebrities and the nicest are: Hugh Jackman, Snoop Dog, Mickey Rourke, Mccullay Culkin, as well as the wrestlers John Cena (huge sweetheart!) Chris Jericho, and many more. There are a lot of celebrity a-holes out there who spoil it, but the ones who I listed are the ones who truly make it great to meet them :)
